Windlesham, Surrey

This lovely property in Windlesham Surrey is comprised of the main house, guest and gardener’s cottages, with indoor and outdoor swimming pools, all set in a beautiful park.  

We worked alongside the designer and owner to provide both natural stone and composites such as quartz and sintered stone, for the flooring, wall cladding, staircases and other decorative features.

The entrance hall in the main house is double storey. A central chandelier with striking glass drops provides a central highlight for the spiral staircase and landing. A spiral design in porcelain and stainless steel was created on the floor to echo and emphasise the spiral of the staircase.

Our waterjet machines allow us to cut thin pieces of stainless steel to inlay between the porcelain slabs.

CRL Verona quartz (composite stone) was used for the staircase treads and risers, landing and gallery. In the gallery, the 30mm-thick slabs have been rebated by 10mm, keeping the floor levels at 20mm, yet giving the appearance of a thicker stone.

This project is the proof that porcelain slabs can be fabricated in the same way as natural and composite stone.

The same porcelain slabs were run seamlessly throughout the kitchen and family snug to the indoor pool and gym in the west wing, giving a beautifully spacious feel.

The kitchen island and worktops are made of Caesarstone Calacatta Nuvo. The fireplace in the family snug is Dekton XGloss Tundra sintered stone.

For the gym bathroom, Calacatta marble was used on walls, floor and for the vanity unit, with bookmatched wall cladding in the walk-in shower.

In the east wing, the owner has opted to create a cosy feel by using wooden herringbone flooring, but sintered stone was chosen for the main architectural feaatures such as the fireplace to eye-catching effect.

Ionic Stone Silver Light marble has been extensively used for the basement utility rooms and staircase.

The broad double-sided contemporary fireplace separating the dining and living area has been clad with Neolith Iron Moss 12mm-thick slabs (sintered stone), and the bar is in CRL quartz (composite stone).
